- Preheat oven to 400°F. Lightly grease a 9x13 inch baking dish with cooking spray or butter.
- Place bacon slices in a cold skillet. Cook over medium heat for 5-7 minutes, turning occasionally, until crispy. Transfer to paper towels to drain. Crumble into small pieces once cooled.
- In a medium bowl, combine softened cream cheese, ranch seasoning mix, minced garlic, and black pepper. Mix with a spoon or hand mixer until completely smooth and well combined.
- Arrange chicken breasts in a single layer in the prepared baking dish. Spread the cream cheese mixture evenly over the top of each chicken breast, covering completely.
- Sprinkle shredded cheddar cheese evenly over the cream cheese layer. Top with crumbled bacon, pressing gently to adhere.
- Bake for 25 minutes, or until chicken reaches an internal temperature of 165°F and cheese is melted and bubbly. Broil for 1-2 minutes if additional browning is desired.
- Remove from oven and let rest for 5 minutes. Garnish with sliced green onions and fresh chives. Serve immediately while hot.
